PPG has published a general electrical brochure and three sell sheets highlighting coatings solutions for manufacturers of transformers, switchgear, enclosures, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
AMERCOAT One coating by PPG earns Corrosion Innovation of the Year Award
PPG announced that AMERCOAT® One coating, the industry’s first true one-component epoxy coating, has earned a 2017 Corrosion Innovation of the Year Award from Materials Performance magazine. Product developers James McCarthy, Kamlesh Sheth and David Curran accepted the honor on behalf of PPG’s protective and marine coatings business during the CORROSION 2017 Conference and Expo, organized by NACE International, in New Orleans on March 27.
PPG Foundation donates $10,000 to Kentucky Science Center
The PPG Foundation recently donated $10,000 to the Kentucky Science Center to support school visits by the organization’s “Ion Jones and the Lost Castle of Chemistry” traveling science education program. The donation was made on behalf of PPG’s architectural coatings plant and distribution center in Louisville.

PPG announces automotive and industrial coatings price increases in Europe
PPG today announced that it will implement customer-specific price increases and surcharges in Europe to offset a significant rise in raw material costs. The price changes will impact a select group of automotive OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and industrial coatings products, effective May 1 or as contracts permit.
PPG and Team Penske hit the track
PPG and Team Penske have teamed up for another year of racing. Celebrating the 34th year of their successful partnership, PPG continues as a key sponsor of Team Penske’s Verizon IndyCar and NASCAR Xfinity Series races in the 2017 racing season. PPG will serve as the exclusive sponsor for one of Team Penske’s entries in five major racing events—three Verizon IndyCar Series and two NASCAR Xfinity Series races—and as an associate sponsor on all the team’s cars and equipment. Team Penske cars will feature PPG colors and logos at the races.
PPG begins COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project at Alabama Constitution Village in Huntsville
PPG today announced the start of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project in Huntsville, Alabama, to help renovate and beautify Constitution Hall and the site at Alabama Constitution Village, which is considered to be the birthplace of Alabama. As part of the effort, on Saturday, March 25, about 50 volunteers will serve as volunteer painters, gardeners and landscapers on the Constitution Hall grounds. The volunteers include PPG employees and family members, team members of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama, and employees of the EarlyWorks Family of Museums that operates Alabama Constitution Village.
PPG Comex, concessionaires earn GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for largest paint-can mosaic
PPG Comex and its more than 750 dealers of COMEX® paints and coatings recently collaborated in Acapulco, Mexico, to achieve the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for the largest mosaic created with cans of paint in the world. The mosaic included 4,900 cans of Comex paint, which will be donated to help beautify spaces in needy areas of Mexico.
PPG-painted car takes Ridler award at Detroit Autorama
A PPG-painted 1933 Ford Roadster, “Renaissance Roadster,” took home the coveted Don Ridler Memorial Award at the 65th Detroit Autorama recently held at Cobo Center in the heart of the Motor City. Owned by Buddy Jordan of San Antonio, Texas, and built by Steve Frisbie and his team at Steve’s Auto Restoration in Portland, Oregon, it garnered the first Ridler award for the Frisbie team.

PPG makes revised proposal to combine with AkzoNobel
PPG today announced that it made a revised proposal on March 20, 2017 to acquire Akzo Nobel N.V. for €90.00 (cum dividend) per ordinary share, comprised of cash of €57.50 and 0.331 share of PPG common stock. This represents an increase of €7.00 per ordinary share from PPG’s initial offer. Including the assumption of net debt and minority interests, the proposed transaction is valued at approximately €24.5 billion, or $26.3 billion.
