PPG Foundation invests nearly $10,000 in Dover STEM initiatives

DOVER, Del., Feb. 7, 2018 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that the PPG Foundation invested $9,500 to support Delaware-area students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). PPG is committed to fostering continued innovations in technology and science and helping students realize their full potential in these fields. The donation was made on behalf of PPG’s architectural coatings plant and distribution center in Dover.
The grant recipients and programs were:
  • Delaware Technical Community College – $4,500 toward two weeks of STEM camps for 10 youth students ages five to 15. The camps will encourage the students to explore careers in STEM.
  • Smyrna School District – $5,000 to support the Automation & Robotics curriculum from Project Lead the Way (PLTW) in eighth grade STEM courses. The funds also will provide students with the opportunity to embark on a student-selected project to hone their skills.
“One of PPG’s top priorities is increasing educational opportunities for youth in the areas of math and technology,” said Neal Nicastro, PPG plant manager, Dover. “By supporting students in their pursuit of careers in these areas, we can help fuel their passions and spur their interest in future STEM opportunities.”
