PPG Foundation invests $10,000 in STEM education nonprofit Girlstart

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 7, 2018 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that the PPG Foundation invested $10,000 to support Girlstart, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing girls’ interest and engagement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through innovative, nationally recognized STEM education programs. The donation was made on behalf of PPG’s architectural coatings business.

The grant will help fund the Girlstart After School club in Austin that will directly impact 25 girls each week. Girlstart After School brings hands-on STEM education to more than 2,600 high-need girls every week throughout Texas to increase their learning in STEM and build their interest and confidence in related subjects and careers.

“Empowering girls to pursue their passions in STEM-related industries is essential to productive growth in the field,” said Steve Carrillo, PPG zone director, Austin. “Through enhancement of the Girlstart After School club, the organization will be able to reach more girls and provide them with the invaluable experience they need to grow their acumen in STEM fields.”
