SHANGHAI, Dec. 13, 2016 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) successfully completed the 2016 University Talent Power Program in China. This year, the company provided more than RMB 470,000 in scholarships for 110 talented students in 11 Chinese universities. Also, PPG enriched the program with the launch of the Career Intelligence Class, which provided professional quality and soft-skills training for over 700 college students about to enter the workforce.

“PPG has sponsored the University Talent Power Program for 13 years in an effort to develop long-term partnerships with Chinese universities,” said Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, corporate and government affairs, Asia Pacific. “We introduced the Career Intelligence Class this year to help empower more college students to be better prepared for the working world.”

At a University Talent Power Program event, PPG employees offered students an introduction to the company and its culture and shared their career experiences. In the Career Intelligence Class, four mentors who have worked for leading domestic and multinational companies elaborated on topics including emotional intelligence, professional woman, effective communication and memorable presentation, and they received positive feedback from both students and faculty.

“PPG is dedicated to establishing close and lasting partnerships with top Chinese universities,” said Isabella Zhou, PPG director of human resources, China. “These programs not only support chemistry talent development in China but also provide PPG with access to bright and creative students who could expand our talent pool.”

The PPG University Talent Power Program includes 11 Chinese universities: Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, Nanjing University, Nanjing Tech University, Nankai University, South China University of Technology, Tianjin University, Wuhan University of Technology, and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
