PPG continue its sponsorship for the Omega European Masters Golf Championship

We're excited to share that, for the third year in a row, PPG is a main sponsor of the Omega European Masters, taking place on the Crans-sur-Sierre Club golf course in Crans-Montana from August 29th through September 1, 2019. The sponsorship is a symbol of our close association with the sport in which we've played a leading role in the production of coatings for golf balls.

In parallel to this year’s event, we’re holding our second Coatings Innovation Summit that provides customers and other delegates a closer look into some of our most innovative products.

PPG Foundation Invests $1.5 Million in Grants to Support Educational, Community Sustainability Programs 

For the first half of 2019, the PPG Foundation has invested more than $1.5 million in 48 organizations to support educational and community sustainability programs throughout the U.S.

“From hands-on, educational workshops in STEM, to programs that foster workforce development, entrepreneurship and financial literacy, PPG had been honored to partner with organizations that provide a sustainable path forward for young people in our local communities,” said Malesia Dunn, executive director, PPG Foundation and corporate global social responsibility.

The grants were made to organizations where PPG has a local presence.

PPG Foundation Invests $160,000 in Next-Generation Workforce

PPG Foundation is providing more than $160,000 in undergraduate college scholarships for U.S. students through the NATIONAL MERIT® Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

New scholarships announced for 2019 include 27 awards for children of PPG employees and students who live in communities near PPG facilities. NMSC selects recipients based on their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which students take during their junior year of high school. The students will receive awards annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

Sixty Million Americans Set to “Procrastipaint”

A new study commissioned through GLIDDEN® by PPG sets out to better understand why U.S. adults tend to procrastinate on home projects like painting. Glidden paint calls this phenomenon “procrastipainting."

Roughly 84 million Americans intend to paint a room in their homes in the next year. The key word here is “intend.” A majority of those surveyed agree that painting is easy, yet a quarter of respondents admit they’ll procrastinate anyway.
